Being a pastor can be an emotionally exhausting job. Today I was called on to mediate an argument between two professional, adult women (don't ask!) This is why I need friends who understand what I'm going through. This is why I need friends who will talk through the issues and joys I have within the church. This is why I need friends who will feed me ice cream and talk about completely non-church related stuff.

Example: About a month ago I was shopping with my good good friend/fellow female pastor (GGF). As we walked through an ugly mall on a Friday evening, GGF turned to me and said, "You know who I feel sorry for?" My initial thoughts ran to -- the citizens of Iraq? The homeless? Pediatric oncologists? "No, who?" I responded. "Jennifer Aniston," GGF sighed. "Will she ever get over Brad getting together with Angie?"

Nighty-night. I hope many pastors out there in blog-land enjoy a REAL day off tomorrow. And don't forget to say a little prayer for Jen.

LOL! It is nice to talk about frivolous things every now and then!

Now, if you happen to watch Ugly Betty, I have alot to say about that show right now!

Is it just me, or have tabloids come to serve the purposes once fulfilled by myth? It seems to me that the people who people People magazine have become our gods and goddesses and glorious or monstrous monarchs and are just as gorgeous, preposterous, tragically flawed and fascinating. Or maybe I just need to justify my boundless appetite for trash. I confess, Brangelina made it into my sermon last Sunday. But Jen did not. Nor did Anna Nicole Smith, God rest her soul.
