Thanks Nana

My folks bought Thomas a DVD for his birthday called "All About Fast Trains". It is a 'documentary' about trains. Specifically a documentary about Engineers Gus and Sam and their amazing model train set. The most stirring part is watching tiny tin soldiers "march" next to the tiny railroad tracks, to a kazoo version of "Stars and Stripes Forever" (aka "Be Kind to your Web-Footed Friends"). It is like watching someone's home movies. Of course, Thomas loves it with a passion and wants to watch it at every waking moment. Thanks a lot, Nana.

I loved the humming of the piccolo part the best! Aren't you glad we didn't get Tom "Dot and the Kangaroo"? By the way, I looked up "Dot ...' on Amazon and there are people who said it was their favorite movie, but it had a sad ending. I feel about "Alice and Wonderland" as you do about "Dot". I have to admit that "Fast Trains" is pretty lame. Maybe we should make our own video about kids jumping in a rocket-ship bouncer and pushing around a fire engine. Wait! We already made that one.

Ah, toddlers and trains...a strange love affair: They love them and they fear them, they want to be with them and they don't want to get too close. They play with the noises, but the actual train sounds sends them into a panic.

Kind of like my relationship with the church organ.
